Paula's 'swimming adventure' raises funds for sick kids
AS the swimming season kicks off, local woman Paula Wilkinson is back in the pool enjoying her favourite sport and making a difference in the lives of sick children.
Swim4kids is a ‘swimming adventure’ with challenges aimed at encouraging swimmers to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation which supports the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane.
“My sister-in-law in Queensland posted the link to the swim on my facebook page last week,” Paula said.
“At the same time, I had decided to take a week off work to relax and do a few laps in the pool as the swimming season was starting - and I had missed being in the pool. I didn’t quite plan on doing this many laps!”
Paula will swim 30kms in 30 days before travelling to Brisbane to participate in the Brisbane to Tangalooma Island swim on October 21 and 22.
Through facebook and local connections Paula has already raised just over $1000 for the cause. Virgin Australia has also come to the party by donating Paula’s flight to and from Brisbane.
